Is the solution outside?

I read about our FM’s visit to Saudi to convince the authorities there to increase oil production and to hold the prices.

Either the Government is convinced that they cannot do anything further on their own or they are trying to hoodwink the public by distracting their attention.  If the oil prices do come down, our FM can conveniently take the credit and if it does not, he can still say that despite their best efforts, the global factors are not under their control.

And if the crude prices really come down (to what extent? is another moot question) does it mean that all will be well?

The powers-that-be are tinkering with some tools like hardening interest rates, reducing sales tax on petrol etc without any holistic approach to the entire problem.  And even these measures are taken just so that the parties stay in power for the rest of the term and not out of any concern for the people’s welfare.

To all of those who are crying hoarse about the crude prices reaching new heights, I have just a simple question.  What have been the determined efforts, plans and budgetary allocations for alternative fuels?  If the Government spent even a fraction of time and money of what it did for the Sethu Samudram Project, we could have made headway in this area and not be held ransom by the OPEC, dollar fluctuations etc.

Our so-called leadership is spending its energy on all trivial areas rather than focus on the nation’s growth and that is the difference between all those nations which have surged past us in growth and development.

And we, as the citizens are fully responsible for electing these people and giving them power.  If we had insisted that only parties which are pro-growth, pro-development and pro-employment deserve our support, none of these would have happened. Instead we voted for those who promised Freebies like TV, gas stove, acres of lands etc and we are reaping the fruits of our actions.

Time for us to cleanse the system rather than look for solutions outside of the country!
